In Which I Celebrate With Parrots and Polish

Hi everyone! I have a lot to tell you today and a few things to show you. First of all, my GIVEAWAY. If you haven't entered yet, click the picture on the top of the righthand sidebar, which will take you directly to the entry post. In this same vein, I should tell you that I have added a polish to the GIVEAWAY. Yesterday I went to Claire's and saw a display of scented nail polish. Now, I'm willing to bet that they are all kinds of sheer, but they have really interesting hexagonal and regular glitter particles, so they'd probably be fabu for layering. Here's the little beauty I'm adding.

I didn't try this one, but I tried the Grape Popsicle one on a fake nail. It smells like Dimetapp (I'm not sure if Dimetapp is specific to the states, but for those of you who don't know it's a grape-flavored cold medicine) tastes, and I don't know about you, but I think that's awesome. I think Cotton Candy will be equally as awesome. So...yeah! Enter the GIVEAWAY!

Yesterday I went shopping (just a little!). I didn't find anything at H&M, sadly. I went to Forever 21 and I was digging through those little bowls in which they keep a plethora of ridiculous rings. I found and purchased what is probably the most ridiculous ring in my not insubstantial ridiculous ring collection. Anyone remember my yellow flower ring? My giant owl ring? This tops them. When I picked it up I said, "HA!" out loud, so I knew I had to buy it. I was a little scared because there was only one left and it was a small. I feel like whenever I post pictures of my whole hand on here my fingers look kind of fat, but they're really NOT because this FITS me like a GLOVE. Or...a ring?

Um, YEAH. Wait, it gets better.

It's one of those connect-y rings. Oh yes. Yes it is.

Angela named my parrot Ricardo and I think that is perfect. I love Ricardo so much that I matched my polish to him.

What's that polish, you ask?

OPI Jade Is the New Black!

This is one of the few polishes I've experienced that really does live up to the hype. I've been reading for months that this is going to be the IT COLOR, and you know what? It's gorgeous. It deserves the hype. It went on really smoothly. This is two flawless, almost effortless coats. The color...is divine. It's a dusty green that leans really far blue. Oh god, I love this. I don't really love greens most of the time (except Ill-am-ask-uh Rampage) but this...this is too lovely. I love the name, too. Jade (or green) certainly is the "new black" in the nail polish world. Every company is coming out with its own version of an awesome green (China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, Orly Wandering Vine/Enchanted Forest, Zoya Envy, etc). This one tops them all, though. At least for me. Ricardo loves it too. Ricardo isn't up on the Forever 21 website yet, but if you too would like to be the epitome of tacky, just check out his blingy brother here.

And now for my news, which you already know about if you're my Facebook friend. Drumroll please...I WAS ACCEPTED INTO AN ART HISTORY AND MUSEUM STUDIES MASTERS PROGRAM! *dances* I've been reading that grad programs are more competitive than ever because with the awful economy people are just deciding to continue their educations. The particular program into which I've been accepted is partnered with a major art museum, so if I decide to go I will have INTERNSHIPS there and CLASSES there and I will get to really EXPERIENCE the art. Oh my giddygod's trousers. I am so happy just to have not been rejected. I have options now! Options! *dance, dance, dance* My financial package isn't ready yet, but who cares! Someone wants me! Now I just have to decide what I want to do with my life. That's the hard part.

I thought that maybe I should buy myself something pretty as a treat. Kelsea would tell me to finally buy some Color Clubs. Ange-Marie would tell me to finally buy some Nfu-Ohs. I'm lemming Lippmann Marquee Moon because it looks super unique and it's named after one of my favorite songs. What do you guys think? Is there anything you think I should really try out? Maybe I'll totally SPLURGE and get myself a Rescue Beauty Lounge polish. Watcha think?

Thanks for reading, lovelies! Eeeeee, so excited!

  1. Pshhhh. For such a big thing, IM getting you Nfu Oh. Duh. ANd EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE so excited. I still want that owl ring. And um, yes, I need that panther connector ring. I had this ring back in the late 90's when I was in HS and it took up from my bottom knuckle all the way to almost my cuticle line. It was a butterfly. But this asshole stoner broke it during lunch. Ugh. Bastard. I still hate him solely for that. WOw, off topic, um I agree JITNB is so worth the hype. It is THE color you need from HongKong collex. Oh, and the smelly polish, let me know how it and the mood polish works out. I'm scared to try both, bc if they don't work out, I'm gonna be grouchy at wasted $... So, if they suck, let me know so I can return them before I try them and can't :)

  9. Ooh, the moment I saw your polish, I KNEW it was jade is the new black! It's gorgeous, isn't it, and it actually goes with your parrot ring! I like the connect-y ring though, but I'm wondering, does it like, impede finger movement in anyway when you wear it?

  10. Omg! You're doing Museums studies too?! How exciting! I'm more on the history side of museum studies. Currently I'm interning at Calgary's Military Museum. So much freaking fun poking around storage.

  14. Ange-Marie, I will let you know how the two weirdo polishes work out. I can tell you right now that the smelly ones are sheer but pretty...but glittery. Don't know if you would like them. They do smell, though. Pleasantly.

Stephanie, thank you! Try Jade Is the New Black ASAP!

Mighty Lambchop, thank you! You need to get this green. It is epic.

Skulda, thanks! I can't get enough of this ring.

Laura, definitely bust out the green. You need to use it ;)

    gildedangel, thanks!

Jackie S., I will definitely consider Nfu Oh. I've heard wonderful things about them.

Angela, please find a twin. Ricardo needs a brother.

Anček, THANK YOU! I'm glad you discovered me :) Keep reading!

Musicalhouses, yes. The ring does somewhat impede finger movement. I mean, it's not like I can't do anything when I wear it, but I would't recommend wearing it for precision tasks. Worth it, though.

PerryPie, yes, museum studies! You too? We should talk!

Nicole, thank you! Case Western Reserve University, Art History and Museum Studies :)

    kelsea...
    1.) Please buy the ring.
    2.) I want Ricardo's tacky brother too.
3.) Thank you :) I think I'm going to have to reign myself in and just buy one or two polishes...
4.) Dimetapp nail polish is the best thing ever.
    5.) You're welcome; any time!

    Zupreem, thank you :)
