OPI Steady As She Rose

I'm not sure what made me want this polish.  Within the past week I saw a few swatches of it and all of a sudden I was positive that it had to be mine.  While Steady As She Rose isn't the type of color I normally go for, I was confident that I would love it enough to give it a nice home forever.

And I was right.  I really like this murky, dusty, rose-y lavender.  Maybe there's a drop of black in Steady As She Rose that gives it that gray cast, but whatever it is...it's really working for me.  I did two coats here, except on my pointer finger where I did three.  I wanted to see if the depth of the color would change and it really didn't, so I didn't add a coat to the other nails.  I didn't use top coat either.  I was going super low maintenance yesterday.  Clueless was on Oxygen so I had no problem just sitting there quietly and letting my nails dry on their own (that's Ren & Stimpy.  They're WAY existential).  I like this polish so much that it's on my toes now too!  That, my friends, is love.

The OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection has delivered two knockouts for me.  I'm confident enough to say that Stranger Tides will be my favorite polish of the summer, hands-down; and there's just something about the murky quality of what could be a girly pink that makes me swoon for Steady As She Rose.  Good job, OPI.  Good.  Job.

I had two days off in a row (Sunday and Monday) so I'm hoping my batteries have recharged a little bit.  On Sunday I spent most of the day alone, until my parents came back from their other house.  Then we had a Fathers Day dinner which my dad grilled (oops) and I hung out with my grandma.  Monday was lazy and wonderful.  I spent the morning with my boyfriend, and then my friend and I made dinner together.  Today starts another work week, but on Saturday the Cleveland Museum of Art is having its third annual Solstice Party (at which I will be volunteering).  If you're from the Cleveland area you should come check it out.  It'll be a fun time, I promise!

Okay, that's it for today.  Opinions on Steady As She Rose?

  1. This is pretty much the only swatch of this color that has actually made me want it.

  2. Believe it or not, every time I see it, my eye catches it and i start thinking about wanting it. It's not my colour at all, won't be in a million years, probably, way to gentle and the pinkish hue ... but I don't know. It's an interesting one. Looks fabulous on you, naturally.

  12. This is really pretty on you! This was the only shade from the collection I wanted, but I think it's just too grey/cool-toned for it to work with my skin tone, boo. At least I can live vicariously through your good experience :)

  13. I LOVE this color in the bottle, but on me - not so much. In fact, I have it on right now, and it's just kind of flat looking. I guess my skin tone is all wrong for it.

  14. A surprising pick! I do find the dusty-pale qualities make it more than a plain pink.

  16. This is the only Pirates polish I want. It looks great on you! I also got Zoya Bela, I wonder how similar they are. I'm in Vegas and there's a Sephora in my hotel, so I might be bringing home some souvenirs from there. :)

  17. This color is stunning! I love the dustiness of the pirates collection colors. The only polish I picked up was planks-a-lot and I usually don't wear purple, but my friend picked it out and I love it!! I use it constantly!! I promised my self the only other one I would get would be mermaid tears... but this one is sooo gorgeous... I also really want the mini's :)

  19. I love this shade too. Though, I did get the entire POTC collection and I like them all :x. Have you thought about picking up Skull & Glossbones? I really enjoy that one!

  20. I really love this color. There's just something different about it that keeps it from being a boring, plain, light pink. I did a stamped manicure with it, which you can see on my blog if you're interested http://digitdecor.blogspot.com/2011/06/moon-flowers-manicure.html.
