Oh Hey, It's My Birthday Again

Annual birthday post with annual birthday polish, OPI Dazzled By Gold.

Blur for sparkle effect.

With flash

The best gold I own and one of my favorite OPIs.  2011 marks the third year that I have worn this polish on or very close to my birthday.  This was three coats.  Isn't it great?

Also, here is what I wore the day before Thanksgiving to celebrate the upcoming holiday:

My friend was making fun of this little sweater I got from Forever 21; she said it looked like a blanket from the back of a pick-up truck last week, and then when I asked what I should wear for Thanksgiving she made a reference to this sweater as a smallpox blanket.  But despite that I am in love with it.  And I know she said these things out of love, because I will be the first person to admit that I do not dress like a normal person.  But as far as my wardrobe goes...this is exceedingly normal.

EDITED TO ADD:  Okay, my boyfriend came in last night and after giving me a birthday gift and a dozen roses proceeded to say, "That sweater is hideous."  NO ONE LOVES MY SWEATER.  Suffice it to say, I changed into a black dress instead.  Then he took me to the art museum.  And dinner.  And then he watched all of When Harry Met Sally...with me because it's my favorite movie.  So really I guess not liking the sweater isn't that big a deal.  I love you, nice boyfriend :)

Also, I'm off school for two days.  So...

Not.  Even.  Exaggerating.

Okay, that's all.  I'll end this on a happy note by assuring you that when I woke up this morning I did listen to Birthday by The Beatles like 12 times.  And really, what more can a girl ask for?

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

I totally understand about wanting your birthday to be your day. Kinda like having your birthday on Christmas!

  4. Happy Birthday! Also, despite my personal feelings about the sweater - which you wear very well - the small pox blanket really did make me choke on my coffee. I officially love your friend!

  7. Happy Birthday from one Sagittarius to another. Mine is on the 29th and also sometimes falls on Thanksgiving, which, yeah, kinda sucks. But at least it doesn't fall on T-day every single year which would really suck, huh? And the whole thing about being depressed about not reaching certain milestones by the time you reach ___ age. Well, it's silly, so don't do that anymore. You are exactly where you're supposed to be. (And people who get married in their early 20's almost always end up regretting it.)

  8. First of all I LOVE that sweater and I LOVE your sense of style. I like when people have a distinct style. I like to think I do as well. But this is about you! I know that someday you will be 43 like I am and look back at you at 25 and realize that you rock and your life rocks and that you should never have sweated the stuff like marriage and PhD stuff. It'll happen when it's meant to happen. Enjoy the day today! I must say though that it would really suck to have your bday on a holiday. To me, my bday is sacred. I NEVER work on my bday and always buy myself something fabulous. I don't have a bday polish but I always listen to Cracker "Happy Birthday To Me" several times throughout the day! And lastly- how do you survive without a tv? I could never! Happy bday!

  12. Happy happy birthday! I love your birthday nails, they are festive and blingy. And you're not alone with your mixed feelings about turning 25. I had them too when I turned 25. But it's your life and everyone has their own pace in life. Enjoy your ride!

  16. Happy Birthday!! That's a very pretty, fun birthday polish. And 25 is still young, and I feel that thinking you should have certain things accomplished by a certain age is just asking for them not to happen. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

  18. I'm 35, and I have a solid full-time teaching gig, a Master's degree, a nearly finished PhD, and a husband. Could I say any of that at 25? Hells, no! I couldn't even say it all at 30. Age, schmage. Enjoy the ride, and always take time to enjoy that cake--and all the beautiful polish(!)--along the way! Happy Birthday! :D

  19. Lovely sweater! I'm probably too allergic to the material to wear it, sadface.

Hope you a good pie- and cake-filled birthday! I turned 25 in September and I know what you mean. I just have no idea what I want to do with my life, and I keep feeling like time is running out for me to do the things I want! I can't wait to turn 30. O__o

  20. Happy Birthday on turning 25! I remember my 25th birthday because it was the last year my grandfather called me for my birthday. Don't fret over the things you don't have, remember all that you have and accomplished so far. You are young and chasing your dreams, believe that all will fall into place when they should. BTW love the nails!

  21. As always, your post made me smile. Happy birthday!!!
Don't get depressed by bitter people, it seems to me you're a very cool girl with a lot of things going for her.
Just smile (and post more) :)
    p.s.
    This polish is stunning!

  22. Smallpox blanket? Really? How incredibly freakin' rude, not to mention completely inaccurate since the scummy government officials that sent those deliberately infected blankets to Native Americans surely had no access to a large quantity of Indian crafted blankets. If I remember correctly, they were standard issue Army blankets. Hopefully, everyone involved in the atrocity is sharing Eternity with other scumbags who tried to commit genocide.

Besides, it looks great on you.
