Rain Storm Giveaway Winner

Hey guys, sorry I'm late in posting this.  I had a busy end of the week and a crappy start to this one, so I don't have a nails post for you.  Just the winner of the Sinful Colors Giveaway:

Stephanie (nice name)
She had trouble picking just one polish, but she mentioned OPI DS Vintage.  Which is interesting, because the vast majority of you guys chose OPI DS polishes.  I only own one true DS holo, Reflection (which I like, it's just not love).  Is there something better about OPI holo polishes than, say, China Glaze ones?  I was a little shocked at the DS love you guys were showing.

Anyway, I e-mailed Stephanie and she has confirmed that she exists, so she will be receiving Sinful Colors Rain Storm.  That polish has started popping up in a lot of places (I've heard), so if you didn't win I'm sure there's hope that you'll find it at your local Walgreens sometime soon.

Thanks for entering if you did!

EDITED TO ADD:  Well, in light of recent events, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider purchasing from the brand Sinful Colors ever again.  It seems that they flat-out stole an image from Mary over at Swatch and Learn and are including it in a pamphlet distributed at Walgreens (in the same display that includes Rain Storm).  Here's her post about it.  I know how pissed off I get when someone e-mails me to tell me that my images are being used on eBay or other blogs, so I can't even imagine how Mary must feel.

Tsk, tsk, Sinful.

  1. I know my "no knockoff" policy isn't a popular one (I refuse to purchase Revlon polishes because they make a habit of blatantly ripping off Chanel collections, time after time) but it does strike me as odd that anybody would be at all surprised to find that a company that blatantly rips off entire OPI collections, complete with marketing imagery would use a blogger's swatch image without permission.

Shame on Sinful, indeed, but am I surprised? Not at all.

    1. Grace, I do remember having the knockoff conversation with you at some point via comments (at least I'm pretty sure it was you; I've got a terrible memory). Apparently Revlon just bought Sinful, so...double problem.

  2. It really amazes me that a company like Revlon, who has the vast resources to hire the best nail people, photographers etc would steal a photo from the Swatchaholic or Mary. It's even funny when you see she is holding a Color Club bottle and didn't even use Sinful for that mani. Alas, people will get over it and still buy Sinful just like people still buy Julep after they blatantly did the same thing to Chloe's nails on their Facebook page.

    1. I do stay away from Julep. And now Sinful too, I guess. I'm bummed. I just bought two new Sinfuls!

  3. Not only that, they removed the watermarks! I can't even excuse ignorance from such a large company, but taking the time to remove watermarks is just shady (and takes more time than it would take to swatch and photograph the polishes for themselves!).

  4. So glad I won! Though I agree on Sinful...I stopped at our local Walgreen's this afternoon to try to find the display, and ours didn't have one. I keep hoping it's just a marketing team foible (not a blatant disregard of the bloggers' copyrights), but in any case, VERY shady and dishonest. :( And I'm not sure about ChG vs. OPI DS holos; I never had access to China Glaze before we moved here (easy access, anyway), so the OPI DS holos were the ones I collected. Vintage is just an awesome color! Reminds me of the old, old holo (can't even find when it came out) "I Lika Peach". I have that one, too...it's not as holo, but is MUCH older.

    1. I don't think there's any way it could possibly be a marketing team foible. Like people have already pointed out, watermarks were totally removed. It's pretty disgusting.

  5. What is the name of that gorgeous orange nail polish on your nails? I've been on the hunt forever for the perfect orange.

    1. It's China Glaze Sun Worshiper from the Poolside summer collection of 2010. That picture is actually two years old.

  6. I just found out that you exist, and I like that. Not-creepy version: I really like your blog, and I'll be following from now on. *waves*

  7. I'd be livid if I was Mary.

If I was MAC and China Glaze I'd be pretty mad. I'd also be pretty mad if I went to buy a Sinful shade that matched that manicure and I couldn't because it wasn't even the right company.

    1. Color Club too, I think.

I just took another look at the display today and was like, "UGH," right out loud. What utter bullshit.

  8. I was also thinking since they can publicly do something like this what are they doing being closed doors. Is their polish really dbp toulene and formaldehyde free? Sorry if something isn't spelled right its so early and I'm too lazy to look it up. I have heard that there isn't a person who actually makes sure these claims are true.
